PARABENS PART 1: Introduction

So . . . everyone (and I mean everyone) wants to know about PARABENS. So let's take a journey to understand everything about the paraben preservatives.

For some time, I wondered how to approach this topic. I could just talk about some research and give my opinions, but I think mapping out the whole process of understanding these preservatives from start to what's current today would serve a better purpose.

I think it's best to provide you with the latest articles from broad and reliable sources. This way we can walk through the process of understanding research results and their impact in real life. There might be a bunch of difficult "science-y" reads, but nothing that concentration can't solve. This can also help to refresh those who are in science/medical practice already.

Hopefully this can also help readers become a little less scared when it comes to approaching medical topics. The series of posts will hopefully provide some paths for the readers to research for themselves.

WHAT TO EXPECTI will be focusing on the paraben preservatives and the "controversy" surrounding them. I will also compare them to other preservatives. This will be done over many posts, in fact, a "series" of posts dedicated to parabens. This series will also branch off to secondary posts as well. For example, when I talk about finding a research journal on parabens, I will also post separate posts on "how to find a research journal" so that the reader can learn how to do it on his/her own.

I expect to do 1-2 posts a week on the parabens, and I'll predict we'll cover everything by the end of this month. Outside this series of posts, I will always keep you updated on the latest research and news on parabens (via "RESEARCH UPDATE" posts).

Hopefully we'll realize, more than anything, that there are no "simple" or "easy" answers or conclusions. We will also discover the strengths, benefits, limitations, and weaknesses within "scientific research". My goal is to apply the insight learned by these posts into a "real" knowledge that we can use to apply daily in our understanding and perception about skincare, life and how things work. Hopefully the reader will be able to renew their approach to skincare with a better understanding than before.
