Hi just wanted to let you know that WEN is NOT natural. Wow what a huge lie does he actually think everyone is that stupid. First the Styling Gel and Texture Balm contain Propylene Glycol it is used as a Humectant. A humectant is a substance that helps retain moisture content. It prevents things from drying out. This is the reason why it's used in skin care & cosmetics. It makes the product feel soft and smooth on your skin & keeps the products from drying out. Propylene Glycol is a chemical that is used in brake fluid, anti-freeze, laundry detergents, paints & coatings and floor wax. The Material Safety Data Sheet for Propylene Glycol states: Implicated in contact dermatitis, kidney damage and liver abnormalities; can inhibit skin cell growth in human tests and can damage cell membranes causing rashes, dry skin and surface damage.

And it contains Laureth-7:

Laureth-7 Tartrate
Origin: A synthetic compound obtained by the extensive chemical modification of lauric acid, a natural fatty acid, and oxirane (ethylene oxide)..

ALL the products also contain Fragrance
Origin: A comination of mainly artificial chemicals, typically 50 to 100, used to impart a fragrance to a cosmetic.

( Laureth-7 and Fragrance had the ‘cross’ near it)
The ‘cross’ The international chemical hazard symbol indicates that there is a potential risk associated with this ingredient. It could be a mild irritant or cause allergic reactions or adverse skin reactions, it could be potentially toxic or carcinogenic, or there may be a risk of contamination with harmful by-products which are formed during manufacture. It could also indicate that there are restrictions on the use of the ingredient. The omission of this symbol does not imply that an ingredient is safe for all individuals.

Thanks for mentioning about WEN on your site. Once I used the WEN cleansing conditioner or is it WEN conditioning cleanser? Either way, I was sold. I only use it now and it makes my routine easier not to mention my hair is just amazing everytime I use it!

Thanks for having a keen eye! To be honest, there really is no solid (and especially no research published in any respectable journal) attesting to the dangers of Methylisothiazolinone. Even the research claiming it's neurotoxicity to in-vitro neurons. But these conditions also do not accurately simulate the real-life use of the ingredient in consumer products. It's especially less worrisome in a hair product that will be rinsed off. Many face washes and lotions (including Neutrogena) uses this ingredient in their products as well.

Thanks, actually I was watching an infomercial not too long ago and I realized that I did have it wrong!

So you use it instead of shampoo and conditioner! I get it now. And I do think there is much to the idea of this product, especially in the sense that it does not rely on detergents to strip away the hair. I can tell you that I will be buying this product in the near future.

Omg, you don't use Wen *after* shampoo, you use it *instead* of shampoo, that's why you use a lot of pumps. And a 16 (or 18 can't remember which it is atm) oz. bottle will last me over a month and that's using 15 pumps at a time (I have a chin length bob, when my hair was longer I used more). Wen is awesome for people who color their hair because it doesn't wash all the color out like shampoo does. I use semi-permanent color and it lasts for waaay longer now thanks to me switching to Wen. It's a wonderful product, give it a shot with out the shampoo, I'll bet that you'll like it even more, since your hair won't be stripped of all of it's natural oils it will feel like day #2 on the first day. Just be sure to follow the directions and rise *throughly*, I ended up with oily looking hair after my first few uses because I didn't follow that part. Good luck! ~Angel

I noticed that you didn't have anything to say about the ingredients contained in Wen; such as Methylisothiazolinone. I read that in two recent “in vitro” studies MIT is shown to be neurotoxic, causing damage to rat brain cells in tissue culture.
